“I’ve lived with insomnia for many years. I know all too well how hard it can be to struggle with sleep.”

My Sleep Story: I’ve lived with insomnia for many years. As an actress, wife, and mother of an active 7-year-old, I have to push through the day, even if I haven’t slept well and feel very tired. But sometimes it’s hard to feel excited for the day if I haven’t gotten enough sleep. Know the feeling?

Even though I was able to fall asleep, I was unable to stay asleep. I would sleep for a few hours and then wake up. Once I was up, I would be up for hours only to fall back to sleep right before my alarm went off. This was leaving me feeling like I didn’t sleep at all. That’s when I realized I needed to talk to my doctor about how I could get more sleep throughout the night.

Through talking with my doctor, I learned more about my insomnia and how to manage it. That’s why I’m encouraging others to get the facts and learn about the possible causes of insomnia that may be keeping them awake.

If you have insomnia, it’s important to know you’re not alone. Talk with others about what you’re going through, especially your doctor, and continue trying new ways to help with your insomnia. Because you deserve a good night’s sleep.
